Helana Olivier

Helana Olivier obtained a BA degree and a postgraduate diploma as well as a licentiate in speech and drama from Stellenbosch University. After a teaching career and freelancing as a translator, she founded her own speech and drama studio. Currently, she sits on the Executive Committee of the South African Association of Speech and Drama Teachers, and she acts as judge at speech and drama festivals.

She lives in Durban, where she does amateur counselling at her local church – for people with eating disorders, among others. In her free time, she enjoys tennis and golf. She is the chairperson of an Afrikaans reading club. Helana wrote and directed a number of school plays, passion plays and one-woman shows. She aims to perform in a one-woman show each year.
