John W. de Gruchy

John de Gruchy is Emeritus Professor of Christian Studies at the University of Cape Town, where he taught for over 30 years.

He is currently a Senior Research Scholar at the University of Cape Town and an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Stellenbosch. De Gruchy, who has doctorates in both theology and the social sciences, is author of The Church Struggle in South Africa and a number of other significant books.

His publications include:

- Christianity, Art and Transformation;
- Reconciliation: Restoring Justice;
- John Calvin - Christian Humanist and Evangelical Reformer
- Being Human: Confessions of a Christian Humanist;
- Icons as a Means of Grace: A Reformed Appreciation.

He received the Andrew Murray-Desmond Tutu Prize for Christian and Theological Books in 2012 for John Calvin - Christian Humanist and Evangelical Reformer (Lux Verbi, 2009).
