About Lux Verbi

Lux Verbi, a Christian publishing imprint of products with an evangelical focus, originated from South Africa’s oldest publishing house, NG Kerk Publishers, established in 1818. In Latin, Lux Verbi means “Light of the Word”. The South African Bible Society, which originated from the same mother company, still distributes millions of Bibles a year, but is not no longer associated with Lux Verbi.
Lux Verbi and Bybel-Media’s business units amalgamated in 1999 to form a new company, called Lux Verbi.BM. The new company’s head office was located in Wellington in the Boland. In April 2010 Lux Verbi moved their offices to the Naspers Centre at 40 Heerengracht, Cape Town. In July 2011 Lux Verbi and Bybel-Media’s business units became separate entities again. Lux Verbi was incorporated in the NB Group and is now a publishing name imprint of NB Publishers, a division of Media24 Books.
Media24 is a leading publishing group in Africa. Its operations include newspapers, magazines, Internet businesses, publishers, printing presses and distribution companies. This well-balanced portfolio of media and publishing investments, as well as a continuing strategy of ongoing renewal and adaptation, has proved to be a winning formula and made Media24 a leading business entity in publishing.
Media24 is the majority shareholder in the media company Naspers.
